What is Farm Day Every Day?

Farm Day Every Day is a year-round initiative that connects communities to farms. Expanding our one-day annual Farm Day events in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, this new initiative provides year-round community outreach and educational opportunities to deepen the public’s understanding of our local food systems.

Through cost-free food literacy education, Farm Day Every Day tours cultivate an understanding of and appreciation for the hands and lands that feed us. Our goal is to strengthen connections between farms and the communities they feed.

💧🌱 Fields of Innovation in Agriculture Research Competition 🌱💧 Calling all Ventura County high school students! Join our 6-week online STEM research competition focused on real-world water challenges in agriculture. The competition will be housed on Canvas. What to expect: ☑️Research local agricultural water issues ☑️Develop STEM-based solutions ☑️Create and present your final poster board to agricultural professionals at CSU Channel Islands 📅 March 9 – May 2, 2026 👩‍🎓 Open to 10th–12th grade students 💻 4 guided online modules + final poster showcase 🌊 2026 Theme: Water in Agriculture Winning recipients will be rewarded with a scholarship and or an internship. 👉 Interested? Soil isn’t just dirt - it is ALIVE! At this station, students dig into the hidden world beneath our feet and discover that one handful of soil holds more living organisms than there are people on Earth 🤯 (over 8 billion!). We explore why healthy soil grows healthy plants AND healthy people, and break down what soil is really made of: rocks, water, air, and organic matter working together in balance. Then it’s time to get hands-on. Students become soil scientists, mixing their own loam recipes with sand, silt, and clay, adding water, squishing, shaping, and comparing textures. Sticky, crumbly, grainy, soft; every soil tells a different story, and every plant has its favorite place to grow. From microbes to muddy hands, this lesson proves that the foundation of our food system starts right under our feet. #SoilIsAlive #HandsOnLearning #STEMEducation #FarmToFood #HealthySoilHealthyPeople

Our incredible volunteers kicked off the January volunteer day at our Farm-to-Food lab site! The day consisted of: • Replacing hay bales for student seating 👧🏻🧒🏻 • Spreading mulch throughout the farm 🪏 • Harvesting and cleaning up the garden boxes 🥕 Join us for our next volunteer day! Farm to Food Lab: Where Plants Become Powerful! At Farm to Food Lab, each student dives into the amazing world of plants and discovers just how important they are to everything we eat and use. Students learn that plants are autotrophs with a real-life superpower: photosynthesis! Using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide, plants make their own food (glucose) and release oxygen. When we eat plants (or animals that ate plants), we’re really eating sun energy! Each student plants their own seedling, donated by @plantelnurseries to take home, learning how to care for it with water, sunlight, air, soil, space, and love! We wrap up by exploring plant-based careers like farmer, botanist, horticulturist, florist, agricultural scientist, park ranger, and more; because growing food grows futures! Learning where food comes from starts with planting curiosity.

The Agriculture Online program leverages the power of social media platforms to engage and educate the public about agriculture in an accessible and interactive way. This program utilizes platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Vimeo to deliver educational content, farmer stories, history of farms, and behind-the-scenes looks at farming practices.
