HEIDI’S STORY

Meet Heidi, a third-grade student from Aspen Elementary, in Thousand Oaks. Aspen Elementary 3rd-grade students participated in SEEAG’s Ventura County Farm Lab in November 2022. Every student who participates in a Farm Lab field trip receives a resource bag filled with a Farm Lab education passport, educational materials and a vegetable transplant - Heidi’s class received broccoli.

“Heidi wanted to share pictures of her broccoli plant from SEEAG’s Farm Lab. She harvested it, and Chef Dad sautéed and served it for her grandma’s special 70th Birthday dinner. It was everyone’s favorite dish!"

These photos and this statement encapsulate the impact our program makes on students.

• Educates students about the farm origins of their food.
• Inspires students to appreciate and be stewards of farmland.
• Empowers students to apply the sciences they have learned to their own life.
