SEEAG Reaches Its Biggest Summer Yet with Record-Breaking Youth Programming

This summer marked an exciting milestone for SEEAG as we delivered our largest summer programming season to date, bringing hands-on agricultural education to more students and communities than ever before. Throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, our educators spent the summer inspiring hundreds of students through interactive lessons that connected agriculture, nutrition, science, and environmental stewardship.
Our team partnered with a variety of summer schools, enrichment programs, and community organizations to make agricultural education accessible during the summer months. Students explored topics including plant science, soil health, beneficial insects, composting, water conservation, and seasonal eating through engaging activities designed to spark curiosity and encourage critical thinking.
One of the highlights of the summer was the opportunity to expand our reach into new communities while strengthening relationships with returning partners. Programs welcomed students of all backgrounds, providing meaningful experiences that encouraged them to explore where their food comes from and appreciate the important role agriculture plays in their everyday lives.
In addition to classroom activities, students participated in hands-on food preparation experiences using fresh, seasonal ingredients. These lessons helped reinforce healthy eating habits while giving students the confidence to try new fruits and vegetables and recreate simple recipes at home with their families.
This record-breaking summer would not have been possible without the dedication of our educators, interns, volunteers, farmers, community partners, and supporters. Their commitment to making agricultural education engaging, accessible, and impactful allowed us to reach more students than ever before.
As we look ahead to the new school year, we're excited to continue building on this momentum through our Farm to Food Lab program, Produce Pop-Ups, and other educational initiatives. Every student deserves the opportunity to discover the connection between agriculture, nutrition, and the environment, and this summer showed just how powerful those experiences can be.
