Southbank Learning Farm Volunteers in Action

Our Thursday, July 30th volunteer day at the Southbank Learning Farm was another meaningful step forward in bringing this special space back to life.

As we continue the journey of revitalizing the farm, every day brings fresh energy to the soil. Getting to work alongside such passionate volunteers reminded us once again just how much we can accomplish when we put our hands together.

Making Strides Across the Farm

Our volunteers rolled up their sleeves and dived right in across the property, helping us care for what’s growing now and prepare for what’s to come:

  • Harvesting Summer Fruit: The farm continues to bless us with delicious fruits! We harvested delicious passion fruits along with another batch of our incredible dragon fruit.

  • Tackling the Weeds: Weeding is always a true labor of love, and our team got right to work clearing out stubborn overgrowth around and inside the chicken coop as well as throughout the dragon fruit fields and areas where our future row crops will soon take root.

  • Prepping for the Greenhouse: Together, we cleared and leveled the site where our new greenhouse will soon stand which is an exciting milestone!

  • Nourishing the Soil: To wrap up the day, we gave the soil, young plants, and fruit trees a thorough watering to keep them healthy through the summer heat.

Grateful for Our Community

Seeing our volunteers work side-by-side with smiles on their faces makes all the hard work worthwhile. Whether you were pulling weeds, harvesting fruit, or clearing ground for our future greenhouse, your efforts are directly shaping the future of this farm and its mission to serve our local youth and community.

To those who joined us this past Thursday, thank you for your time, energy, and positive attitude!
