Farm Day Every Day: 2025 Program Recap

This past year we welcomed over 6,000 community members to multiple Farm Day events, each experiencing the Central Coastsβ agriculture industry. From farm tours, to hands-on experience, and everything in between, the Farm Day Every Day program sparked new curiosity, perspectives, and gratitude for agriculture. January 25th - Farm Day Every Day Tour at Petty Ranch
We welcomed 50 community members to Petty Ranch in Saticoy for an experience on the avocado and lemon farm! The day started with a tour from Chris Sayer, farmer and owner of Petty Ranch, teaching attendees about the inβs and outβs of avocado farming. We moved onto SEEAGβs Farm to Food Lab program site, where attendees experienced a program walkthrough experience from SEEAGβs educators. The day ended with a raffle of avocado trees from Brokaw Nursery and goodie bags from SEEAG!
February 22nd - Farm Day Every Day Tour at Plantel Nurseries
Over 60 community members joined us at Plantel Nurseries in Santa Maria for a tour of their seedling operation. The day started with a tour from Stephen and Pete from Plantel, teaching attendees about the entire process from planting to germinating, shipping, and everything in between. We walked through the indoor facilities, where we saw the planting process in action, and got to check out the hundreds of acres of seedling plants in their greenhouses. The day ended with a free seedling giveaway from Plantel, and free compost from Engel & Gray!
March 29th - Farm Day Every Day Tour at McGrath Family Farms
Over 50 community members joined us at McGrath Family Farms in Camarillo for a behind-the-scenes experience of their operations. We started the day with introductions from Mike from Baby Root Farm, Ariana from Rodale Institute, and Ivan from Carranza Family Farm. They each walked us through their organic fields, taught us about their year-round planting season, and shared what they do with their produce. The day ended with a free produce giveaway from the three farms, and a SEEAG goodie bag!
April 26th - Farm Day Every Day Tour at Las Cumbres Ranch
Over 30 community members joined us at Las Cumbres Ranch in Los Alamos for a tour of the regenerative ranch and cattle operation. The morning began with an introduction, from Stephan Selbert, ranch manager at Las Cumbres Ranch. We toured the property grounds where we learned about the importance of native grasses, how their cattle operation works, and how climate affects their soil. We ended the morning with a Q & A with Stephen, and a goodie bag from SEEAG!
May 31st - Farm Day Every Day Tour at Rincon Farms
Over 60 community members joined us at Rincon Farms in Carpinteria for a tour of the avocado orchards, and packing facility. We kicked off the morning with an introduction from Sean Bettles, co-owner of Rincon Farms. We then got a behind-the-scenes look at the packing facility in action. After, we took a walk through the orchards and learned about the half organic, half conventional operation, including the significance of cover crops. We topped off the morning with delicious homemade guacamole, and Ojai pixies from the Bettles Family.
September 6th - 7th Annual Santa Barbara County Farm Day
Over 5,000 community members joined us at over 21 different farm locations throughout Santa Barbara County for the annual Farm Day event. Farm Day gave farmers and ranchers the opportunity to share their stories, address common misconceptions about agriculture, and build lasting connections with the community. Families and friends crisscrossed the county from Santa Maria to Carpinteria, enjoying hands-on activities, games, and learning experiences. Visitors sampled and took home more than 20,000 pounds of fresh produce. From tasting farm-fresh strawberries to walking lavender fields, the day was filled with discovery, joy, and community spiritβleaving people of all ages with a deeper connection to the hands and lands that feed us.
