Produce Pop-Up Recap – Kamala Elementary in Oxnard, CA
We had a wonderful time at our recent Produce Pop-Up at Kamala Elementary School in Oxnard!
Thanks to the generous donation of 300 pre-packaged food boxes from Food Share of Ventura County, along with two boxes of gleaned oranges provided by Food Forward, families were able to bring home a wide variety of fresh and nutritious foods. From pantry essentials to fresh citrus, each box represented more than just a meal, it reflected the care, compassion, and support of our community. Seeing children proudly help carry boxes alongside their parents was a powerful reminder of the positive impact these events have on local families. Moments like these reinforce the importance of our Youth Wellness Initiative Program and our mission to increase access to healthy food while creating meaningful family engagement opportunities.
This Produce Pop-Up would not have been possible without the incredible support of our partners and volunteers. The staff at Kamala Elementary School, student volunteers from Pacifica High School, and our very first volunteer who signed up through the SEEAG website volunteer platform all played an important role in creating a welcoming, organized, and positive environment. From coordinating logistics to assisting families throughout the distribution process, their teamwork and dedication were evident every step of the way. Their commitment to supporting students and families truly helped make this event memorable.
We also want to extend our gratitude to every volunteer who generously gave their time and energy to support the event. Whether unloading boxes, organizing produce, or helping families during distribution, each person’s contribution made a meaningful difference. It is through this kind of community involvement that events like these continue to grow and thrive.
Through this collaborative effort, the first Produce Pop-Up at Kamala Elementary School became more than a food distribution event, it became a celebration of connection, nourishment, and community partnership. We look forward to hosting more Produce Pop-Ups throughout the year, reaching additional families and expanding access to fresh, local produce across our community. With every event, we aim to strengthen community connections and help ensure that everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food.
Thank you to the entire Kamala Elementary School community for showing up, supporting one another, and making this event such a success. We look forward to seeing everyone again at the next Produce Pop-Up!
