Produce Pop-Up Recap – Citrus Glen Elementary School, Ventura
Volunteers helping set up Produce Pop Up at Citrus Glen Elementary School
Community showed up in a big way at our recent Produce Pop-Up at Citrus Glen Elementary School in Ventura! What started as a simple Produce Pop Up quickly turned into an afternoon full of connection, teamwork, and shared purpose.
With 250 pre-packaged produce boxes generously provided by Food Share and four additional boxes of locally gleaned navel oranges from Food Forward, families left with boxes full of colorful, nourishing fruits and vegetables. The line moved steadily, smiles were everywhere, and the excitement of students helping select and carry fresh produce made the impact feel tangible and immediate.
What made this pop-up especially meaningful was the strong presence of local youth leadership. Student volunteers from local Ventura High schools, Pacific High School and Buena High School, stepped up in a big way, unloading boxes, organizing distribution tables, and warmly greeting families as they arrived. Their professionalism, kindness, and enthusiasm helped create a welcoming environment that reflected the very best of Ventura’s community spirit.
Citrus Glen staff were incredible partners, ensuring the campus was organized and ready for families. Their support allowed the entire distribution to run smoothly and efficiently, reinforcing how powerful school-community partnerships can be when everyone works together.
We’re excited to continue bringing fresh, local produce directly to Ventura families and strengthening these community ties throughout the year.
