Nourishing Young Minds: Recap of our Produce Pop-Up at Glen City Elementary
Glen City families grabbing produce to take home
We’re thrilled to share that our 4th Produce Pop-Up at Glen City Elementary School in Santa Paula was a heartwarming success!
In partnership with Food Share, we served over 300 produce boxes to families on campus. In addition to these boxes, SEEAG distributed fresh, seasonal produce—beets, pomelos, potatoes, green peppers, and Meyer lemons harvested by the SEEAG team alongside our gleaning partner, Food Forward. Food Forward also provided a sweet, juicy bounty of oranges, rounding out an abundant offering of nutritious options.
The event was filled with joy and gratitude as students walked off campus munching on fresh fruits and veggies. As Principal Julie Bergman shared the day following the pop-up:
"I was thinking last night what a fantastic event this was. I saw students walking off campus eating carrots and oranges. One little boy exclaimed, 'My mom is going to be so happy—I’m saving her $100 bucks on groceries!' I would love to continue this collaboration! Please give our greatest thanks and appreciation to everyone involved."
In their full testimonial, Glen City leadership added:
“The Glen City collaboration with SEEAG on our Produce Pop-Up event was an astounding success! Students and families were given the opportunity to obtain fresh fruits and vegetables at no cost. Food Share joined in by providing additional boxes filled with amazing healthy options for our families. Students were laughing as they ate oranges and carrots, chatting about how they were going to cook their broccoli! Parents were so grateful and thankful that we are encouraging healthy habits in our students. Glen City truly appreciates the work SEEAG does—not only to ensure our students have access to fresh food, but also to provide educational opportunities to learn more about agriculture in our area and how it nourishes us.”
At SEEAG, we believe that fresh, nutritious food should be accessible to everyone. That’s why our Produce Pop-Up events bring locally grown produce directly to schools, ensuring that families—especially those in Title 1 schools—have access to fresh fruits and vegetables. These pop-ups don’t just provide food—they offer nutrition resources, food access information, and a celebration of community and equity.
