SEEAG Internship Positions
This 8-week (summer) or 12-week (school-year) internship is a 150-hour, stipend-supported educational experience, designed to build meaningful exposure to nonprofit operations, agriculture literacy, food systems, youth education, and community engagement. Interns complete a primary project or project(s), participate in weekly check-ins, and observe and support SEEAG programs (Farm-to-Food Lab, STEM Career Pathways in Agriculture, Youth Wellness Initiative, or Farm Day Every Day).

Farm-to-Food Lab Program Intern

The Farm-to-Food Lab Intern supports SEEAGβs flagship education program, helping deliver hands-on, farm-based learning experiences for third-grade students across Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Interns assist in preparing lessons, supporting field trips, maintaining materials and farm stations, and contributing to classroom or outdoor educational activities that teach students where their food comes from.
This internship is part of SEEAGβs Farm-to-Food Lab framework and provides meaningful exposure to agricultural education, nonprofit operations, and community engagement. Interns complete 150 hours over 8 or 12 weeks and spend approximately 60 percent of their time on project-based work and 40 percent on core program responsibilities, with project assignments varying each quarter.

Program Support Responsibilities (40% of Position's Time):
1. Support hands-on lessons and field trips by assisting educators with classroom and farm-based activities, student engagement, and overall lesson delivery.
2. Prepare, organize, and maintain materials including classroom supplies, produce, teaching tools, learning stations, signage, shade structures, and other logistical needs before and after lessons.
3. Provide general program support, such as inventory tracking, equipment organization, light garden or farm-site maintenance, event assistance, and basic administrative tasks.
Spring Project Assignment(s) (60% of Position's Time):
1. Social Media Content Collection
Help collect and create weekly content for the Farm-to-Food Lab program based on social media requests. Assist in editing and preparing Instagram posts and Blog Posts.
2. Google Drive Organization
Help streamline and organize SEEAGβs digital folders by locating duplicates and outdated items, creating consistent folder structures and naming conventions, and moving, merging, or deleting files as directed.
3. Superhealthyherokids Content Support
Assist in designing and uploading student-facing worksheets, recipe cards, and sensory activity sheets. Prepare reproducible teacher templates that include clear instructions and materials lists.

STEM CPA Program Intern

The STEM Career Pathways in Agriculture Intern supports SEEAGβs high-school and middle-school education program focused on connecting students to agricultural science, technology, and career opportunities across Californiaβs Central Coast. Interns assist in delivering classroom lessons, organizing events and research competitions, and maintaining SEEAGβs Fields of Innovation Alumni Hub.
This internship is part of SEEAGβs STEM Career Pathways in Agriculture framework and provides meaningful exposure to agricultural education, nonprofit operations, and community engagement. Interns complete 150 hours over 8 or 12 weeks and spend approximately 60 percent of their time on project-based work and 40 percent on core program responsibilities, with project assignments varying each quarter.

1. Support STEM classroom delivery by assisting educators with lesson setup, lab activities, student engagement, and logistics for middle- and high-school programs.
2. Assist with preparing, organizing, and maintaining program materials, including STEM lab supplies, digital files, photos, templates, and classroom resources used in lessons and workshops.
3. Assist with program coordination, such as outreach support for the Fields of Innovation Research Competition, communication with school partners, and simple administrative tasks.

1. Canva Asset Organization & Digital Content Management
Organizing photo/video archives for STEM programming.
2. Career & Opportunity Research
Updating online listings with accurate opportunities for students and alumni.

Building a complete classroom set with photos, scientific names, and descriptions.

Farm Day Program Intern

The Farm Day Marketing Intern supports SEEAGβs Farm Day Program, an annual community event that connects the public with local agriculture through free farm tours and educational experiences across Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Interns assist in marketing, planning, and communications to help promote events, support participating farms, and expand community engagement.
This internship is part of SEEAGβs Farm Day Every Day in Agriculture framework and provides meaningful exposure to agricultural education, nonprofit operations, and community engagement. Interns complete 150 hours over 8 or 12 weeks and spend approximately 60 percent of their time on project-based work and 40 percent on core program responsibilities, with project assignments varying each quarter.

Program Support Responsibilities (40% of Position's Time):
1. Support outreach, communications, and marketing efforts by helping create and schedule content, drafting captions, gathering photos, and maintaining simple analytics.
2. Assist with Farm Day logistics and partner coordination, including outreach to participating farms, updating event information, organizing visitor resources, and contributing to day-of preparations.
3. Contribute to event operations, such as assisting with setup, greeting guests, guiding visitors, collecting feedback, and supporting volunteer coordination as needed.
4. Provide general program and administrative support, including organizing materials, attending weekly meetings, documenting event progress, and representing SEEAG positively in the community.
Spring Project Assignment Options (60% of Position's Time):
1. Farm Day Social Media Management
Creating and planning social media content to promote Farm Day events, partners, and educational themes; tracking engagement; organizing photos; and contributing to SEEAGβs content library.
2. Visitor Experience & Improvement Study
Designing visitor surveys, analyzing feedback from participants and farm partners, and producing insights to improve signage, wayfinding, communication, and event flow for future Farm Days.
3. Volunteer Operations Support
Supporting volunteer recruitment, communication, documentation, and post-event feedback to strengthen Farm Day volunteer systems and improve event-day support.

The California Department of Food and Agriculture Internship Program

ATTRA Sustainable Agriculture Program

Internship Opportunity: Sustainable Pest Management Internship with California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) [Closedβ¦Look Out for January 2026 Application Dates]
The California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) is offering an exciting internship opportunity for up to four students across the state to support a groundbreaking initiative with the California Department of Food & Agriculture (CDFA) Office of Pesticide Consultation & Analysis (OPCA). This internship is ideal for students passionate about becoming pest control advisers (PCAs) who want to build valuable industry connections and gain field experience in sustainable pest management.
CAPCA has been awarded a one-million dollar grant by CDFA to advance Sustainable Pest Management (SPM) in California cropping systems. The project, "Assessing SPM Adoption, Decisions, and Resources in California Cropping Systems," focuses on collecting data from 200 Pest Control Advisers (PCAs) to analyze their use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and SPM strategies. This research will directly inform CAPCA, CDFA, and the University of California Integrated Pest Management (UC IPM) Department to improve continuing education for PCAs.

Grimmway Farms offers paid summer help positions (10β12 weeks) for high school students to gain hands-on experience in agriculture. Students can work in different departments and learn real-world skills. A work permit is required if under 18, and applications are accepted March 1β31 each year.
