SEEAG Internship Positions
This internship is designed to build meaningful exposure to nonprofit operations, agriculture literacy, food systems, youth education, and community engagement. Interns complete a primary project or project(s), participate in weekly check-ins, and observe and support SEEAG programs (Farm-to-Food Lab, STEM Career Pathways in Agriculture, Youth Wellness Initiative, or Farm Day Every Day).
Eligibility Requirements:
This internship is supported through Work-Based Learning grant funding, which is intended to expand access to career opportunities for students facing socioeconomic barriers.
Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Qualify for free or reduced-price lunch
Be experiencing homelessness or have foster youth status
Be a recipient of a Pell Grant or Promise Grant

Farm-to-Food Lab Program Intern

The Education Program Intern supports both SEEAGβs flagship education program, Farm-to-Food Lab, and newest project, the Southbank Learning Farm, helping deliver hands-on, farm-based learning experiences for students across Ventura County. Interns assist in preparing lessons, supporting field trips, maintaining on-farm education sites, and contributing to classroom or outdoor educational activities that teach students where their food comes from.
This internship is part of SEEAGβs experiential, STEM-based learning framework and provides meaningful exposure to agricultural education, nonprofit operations, and community engagement. Interns are expected to complete 150 hours over the course of 8 weeks. The Education Program Intern should expect to work at various SEEAG locations throughout Ventura County including our main office, Petty Ranch, Southbank Learning Farm, and other partner education sites. -
This internship will have a main focus on education programs and maintaining the Southbank Learning Farm over 8 weeks.
Program Support: Assist with the collection of participant testimonials in the form of quotes, photos, and anecdotes. Track program numbers for grant reporting. Assist with on-site program set up and tear down. Support the education team with organizing program materials and other program-related tasks.
Farm Maintenance: Assist with daily farm maintenance on both Southbank Learning Farm and Petty Ranch such as weeding, trimming, planting, harvesting, irrigation repair, bed preparation, pest management and the documentation of such tasks.
Program Operations & Development: Assist with creating farm site planting schedules, crop rotation plans, supply lists, and signage. Assist with curriculum development and volunteer outreach.
Social Media Content Creation:Capture photo and video content during programs as well as on the farm site. Assist with editing photos and videos in accordance with SEEAGβs marketing standards. Create evergreen content to promote education programs and the development and progression of the Southbank Learning Farm.
Insect Habitat Creation: Gather information regarding local, beneficial, and pest insects' lifecycle, host plants, and their habitat. Collaborate on the creation of a design for the insect station area where youth exploration takes place. Ability to both learn and assist with the planting of beneficial plants. Assist in developing insect-related signage.

Demonstrated interest in agriculture, environmental education, communications, or nonprofit work.
Reliable transportation required for on-site activities across Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

STEM CPA Program Intern

The STEM Career Pathways in Agriculture Intern supports SEEAGβs educational programming by contributing to hands-on garden-based learning, content creation, and program operations. This role helps maintain a functional and organized garden learning environment at the La Colina Hub while supporting initiatives that connect students to agricultural science and career pathways. Through a combination of on-site support, social media content creation, and program-related tasks, the intern plays a key role in enhancing experiential learning opportunities and advancing SEEAGβs mission to promote agricultural education across the Central Coast.
This internship is part of SEEAGβs STEM Career Pathways in Agriculture framework and provides meaningful exposure to agricultural education, nonprofit operations, and community engagement. Interns are expected to complete 150 hours over the course of 8 weeks. The STEM Intern will primarily be based at La Colina Junior High School, with additional responsibilities carried out at SEEAGβs Ventura office. -
This internship will have a main focus on maintaining La Colina Hub's outdoor space over 8 weeks.
La Colina Hub:
Garden & Farm Support
Assist with garden maintenance tasks such as watering, weeding, planting, composting, and worm bin care. Support preparation of garden beds and learning spaces for student programming. Expect emphasis on planting and building.Garden Operations & Organization
Assist with basic documentation of garden activities (plant growth, harvests, student participation), help organize tools and supplies, and support general upkeep to maintain a program-ready learning environment.

Farm Day Program Intern

The Farm Day Marketing Intern supports SEEAGβs Farm Day Program, an annual community event that connects the public with local agriculture through free farm tours and educational experiences across Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Interns assist in marketing, planning, and communications to help promote events, support participating farms, and expand community engagement.
This internship is part of SEEAGβs marketing and communications framework and provides meaningful exposure to agricultural education, nonprofit operations, and community engagement. Interns are expected to complete 170 hours over the course of 14 weeks. The Farm Day Intern is expected to work out of SEEAGβs Orcutt, CA office, with occasional farm visits in Santa Barbara County. -
This internship will have a main focus on social media and marketing for SBC Farm Day over 14 weeks.
Social Media Support: Support SEEAGβs communications by helping brainstorm and create content that promotes Farm Day. Tasks include assisting with community engagement, helping track basic analytics to understand audience interest, organizing photos, videos, and captions, and creating social media posts to share publicly to strengthen SEEAGβs Farm Day.
Educational Activity Development Plan: Assist in creating family-friendly activities and educational touchpoints for Farm Day. Responsibilities include researching effective hands-on learning ideas, helping identify age-appropriate agricultural resources, and supporting the development and production of simple educational materials to enhance the visitor experience.
Visitor Experience & Improvement Study: Help develop simple post-event surveys and recap questions for Farm Day visitors. Assist in reviewing and summarizing feedback, keeping data organized in shared sheets, and identifying broad trends that can inform recommendations for improving future visitor experiences.
Volunteer Operations Support: Contribute to strengthening Farm Dayβs volunteer program by assisting with outreach to volunteer groups, participating in introductory meetings, supporting the creation of volunteer materials and day-of information, and helping collect and organize post-event volunteer feedback.
